Champions League Quarter Final Draw
Villareal v Arsenal:
I’m happy with this draw. Apart from Porto, Villareal are probably the most beatable team out of the 8 quarter finalists. Arsenal have an advatnage with playing away first and now that alot of their key players are returning from injury, they should progress. It will also be interesting to see Robert Pires playing against his old side.
My prediction: Arsenal
Man United v Porto
As I’m biased against United, when I heard that they had once again drawn the easiest team I tutted under my breath and grumbled a bit. United fans lareay sounds confident, and with good cause. They should sail past Porto and have the easier route as they will face either Arsenal or Villareal. Saying that, I’d love to see Arsenal vs Man United in the semi. And I do think Arsenal could beat them.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. Porto have the advantage with playing away first, but I still think United will win
My prediction: Man United
Barcelona v Bayern Munich
In my opinion this is the most exciting draw. Barcelona are on incredible form in the Spanish League and Bayern have looked solid all the way the Champions League this year. Bayern will be confident after whooping 12 goals past Sporting Lisbon, whilst Barcelona looked a bit shaky at times against Lyon. But regardless, I think Barcelona have got to be favourites. Hopefully, with the class in both sides, we’ll see alot of goals. I reckon we could even witness a 5-4 thriller.
My Prediction: Barcelona
Chelsea v Liverpool
Once again, these two have met in the Champions League. It was inevitable that two English teams would meet in this round, and i’m just glad that it wasn’t Arsenal v Liverpool again. We should be in for two very good games. Liverpool have to be favourites too. They have been playing some fantastic football lately and have already beaten Chelsea this season. But saying that, Chelsea seem to have revived in form under Huudink, so it should be very close.
My prediction: Liverpool
So if my predictions are correct, that would make the semi’s Arsenal vs Man Utd and Liverpool vs Barcelona. They would be some fantastic semi’s. I’m not gonna guess that Man Utd would annoying beat Arsenal and Liverpool would shock everyone by beating Barca giving us a Liverpool v Man United final and I predict another annoying Man United win. I don’t want that to happen, buts that my uninformed, probably wrong prediction.

I reckon Chelsea will beat Liverpool. Don’t know why, just have a feeling.
Have the semi-final ties already been drawn?

Yeah. Which is why United fans are so confident they wil be in the final.

I think I agree with you on all your predictions Mr Pearson apart from the Barcelona v Bayern. I’ve got a feeling Bayern may just do it (probably on away goals). I think I also agree with your final prediction, although I would fancy Liverpool in the final.
HOWEVER. I would LOVE, and I mean LOVE to see Arsenal beat Utd in the semi’s. It would be simply glorious. It would be even better if after a 1-0 victory for Utd at OT Arsenal were winning 2-0 at the emirates moving into stoppage time. Then Utd being the scum buckets they are win a dubious penalty decision. Ronaldo steps up to surely put Utd into the final…but NO…he smashes his penalty wide and his pretty boy face fills with tears as he realises that the full time whistle has gone and Utd are out. He then moves to Madrid during the summer where he sits on the bench for a year, and then eventually moves on to Kiddermister Harriers where he belongs. *Simon awakes from his lovely dream*

Well, lets just pray that that happens.

Well how interesting! Wasn’t expecting that from the first legs. Surely Chelsea and Barcelona are in the semis now. I was expecting both to be close ties – shows what I know (espicially as I backed Liverpool and Bayern – opps!).
As for the other games I think Arsenal got a good result and would expect them to progress now. Porto got a good result against Utd and you could see them as favourites… but I don’t. Utd always get through games like this. But I’m hoping!
Anyway, what are everyone else’s thoughts?

Yeah I’m pretty much in agreement with you. Barcelona looked on incredible form and will be difficult to beat for anyone.
Porto getting a draw was a surprise, but United will probably do what they do best and grind out an annoying result which puts them through. Saying that, their defence has looked very suspect the last few games so you never know.
Arsenal should go through. Villareal had their chance in the first half of the first game but couldn’t get another goal. Arsenal should beat them at home. Should.
Liverpool v Chelsea surprised me. I don’t think its over yet, but I still think Chelsea will progress. Liverpool will put up a good fight and I’d prefer them to go through, buts 3 away goals just seems to high a mountain to climb.
